Project Description:

Recently, the advancement of Big Data, the Internet of Things, and AI dramatically promotes the development of autonomous electric vehicles (EVs), and related markets have been newly expanding. In particular, the demand for magnetic materials grows at an average annual growth rate of about 9%, and the development of the low-cost- and stable supply of minerals-based permanent magnets is indispensable. Hard magnetic materials play a crucial role in EVs. Securing rare earth has become the most severe issue, and also no permanent magnet exhibits a magnetic maximum energy product between 10 and 30 MGOe. Therefore, rare-earth free permanent magnet receives significant attention. In this project, we propose to develop spin-tuned M-type hexaferrite by tuning the electronic structure of strontium hexaferrite.
